Welcome in my hutong. I am Tian Huining. This is my mother. This is my sister. That's my brother over there.
This is my parents's shop. They sell all kinds of stuff. After school I'm always here. I just sit here and read. I do my homework and eat something.
This is where I live.
I have a lot of friends here. We all play together. We play many different games. There are no skyscrapers in the hutongs,
all buildings are low. Me and my family live here. We live in
the basement. We can't go inside. It's a mess.
The hutongs are part of the history of Beijing. They are more than 700 years old.
In the hutongs we all share public toilets. This is one of them.
The smalles hutong is only 40 centimeters wide.
What's it like to live here? It's good! I like it a lot.
There are many friends to play with.
