14 YEAR OLD SARAH MUKOSAI TELLS HER STORY OF MOVING FROM HER FLOODED HOME IN MSISII COMPOUND TO RELEIF TENTS

This is the Zambia DMMU camp set up to accommodate

families that were moved from Misisi and Chawama compounds because their houses were flooded after heavy rains.

Fourteen year old Sarah Mukosai and her family are living in the tents with other families.
Sara explains that their house in Misisi compound was flooded making it difficult for the family to live in it. This is Sarah’s home, in Misisi compound.
With help from the Red Cross movement of Zambia and the office of the vice president through the Disaster Management Mitigation Unite-DMMU families including Sara’s were moved to the Zambia DMMU camp at the independence stadium.
Moving from Misisi compound was not easy for Sara because she has lived there for many years and has many friends there.
Sarah explains that she like her new home at the camp because it is not flooded but she hopes to go back home soon because that is where her school is.
Sarah and her family together with the others are expected to stay in these tents until the water is pumped out of Misisi and Chawama compounds.
